Launde Abbey Christian Retreat House

Launde Abbey is a Christian retreat house in the heart of the East Midlands countryside. With a nine hundred year history, a praying community holding three services of worship daily in our ancient Chapel, thirty nine bedrooms, excellent dining facilities and multiple meeting rooms of all sizes, we're the perfect venue for a personal retreat, a church group, conferences, gatherings and meetings small or large. The market towns of Oakham, Uppingham, Melton Mowbray and Market Harborough are all nearby, providing excellent road and rail links across the Midlands, to London, and beyond.

We offer fully catered accommodation: superb bedrooms in the Elizabethan house and remodeled Jacobean Stables, and full breakfast, hot lunch and table served dinner in our spacious dining rooms. There's plenty of space to relax in our sitting rooms, library, and meeting spaces, and in addition to our medieval Chapel there are other prayer spaces around the site, including an outdoor worship area.

Our grounds encompass a quiet garden, a beautiful walled garden (where food for the kitchen in grown), a large grass labyrinth, and a summer house and a couple of quiet Shepherds' Huts for extra quiet space.

We're delighted to welcome everyone from an individual retreatant staying for a night or two through to large groups looking for the perfect space for their reflective gathering, retreat or meeting. Our dedicated and experienced staff will look after every aspect of your stay, and will co-ordinate with group leaders to ensure that larger gatherings have all the support they need.

Our on-site residential community includes a ministry team who are happy to offer pastoral conversations, spiritual direction, prayer, confession, or just a listening ear.

We're surrounded by miles of open farmland, countryside and woodland - perfect for walking or cycling (we're on a national cycle route) or just ambling while you enjoy the quiet of rural life!
